Superflat
'Superflat is a postmodern art movement, founded by the artist Takashi Murakami, which is influenced by manga and anime.'
'The concept of superflat is based on the principle that all creative works on a flat surface are two-dimensional. As well as levelling the playing field between high and low culture, or for that matter between ancient and modern history or between Eastern and Western cultures.'
This movement has mostly effected the style and strategy of my work. Creating neat aand flat designs with an unpredictable medium (acrylic paint) has been the most enjoyable outcome of my practice. This is because I value art which takes time, I feel more rewarded once it’s done.
