Murakami’s work is centred around a very graphic style, which is where my artistic process began. I naturally aim for a precise, neat, almost graphic outcome I my work. His work can be descried as ‘superflat’, something that I have experimented with. I created a series of wood pieces, using ink to stain shapes into the surface, making a smooth surface, not tampered with brush marks.

By having the shape of ‘Jellyfish eyes’ as a circle, increases the peculiarity, which I enjoy. It brings an anthropomorphic quality to the work, making it even more curious. This is something I wish to achieve. For example, my leaf design. Based from a normal leaf, it has large eyes, which is unconventional for a leaf.
