Why Myth?

Several people have asked me lately why I am so interested in mythology. To me, there is an element of escapism in the stories. One thing I have always been drawn to is fantasy, reading or seeing a make-believe world and almost living the life of the characters in your imagination. Mythology is another part of this, however it is even more as myths are embedded in different cultures all over the world, with real places and some of the people could have been real. I think this is why I am drawn to myth so much. I also like that the stories are almost infinite, so this fantasy world keeps growing and growing. Lately, I have been interested in the abnormal as well. Last year, I did a module on abnormal figures. In myth, there is a whole manor of strange creatures taking the conventional and twisting them into magnificent beasts and things people would not expect.
