She had strong pop art references in her work. Two of her portraits were made from Hamma beads, both of them spin in a different way. One was hanging from the ceiling and one was attached to the wall with a nail and spun against the wall, she also recorded this piece spinning and had it projected on the wall. The video reminded me on an optical illusion. The image comes into focus as it slows down, however it’s also always more focused closer to the centre of the piece.

Catherine created 8ftx4ft wall paintings, but recreated them in smaller sizes to bring into the crit. She works with triangles and the primary colours throughout her work. A strong geometric theme is present, simple and not over complicated. For one of her pieces, shed taken the masking tape shed used to create the wall paintings and put it in a pile and created a sculpture out of the spare material. In another piece, she has put circles and elastic bands on a board, they almost look kinetic, circles look like they could be cogs, it could become a machine. Her geometric work reminds me of Lothar’s work. Certainly has some early modernist influence. The bright colours almost distract from the shape, like they're screaming out at the viewer.

Her large abstract splatter painting I think is my favourite. There's a sense of depth even though the painting is flat. It triggers your imagination of how you can weave through this painting. The largest one certainly has the most impact. The green piece has quite a modernist composition, but for the drip paintings, Pollock seems like a strong influence.
