Drawing on the Body

Since the drawings I do are tattoo designs, I wondered how the drawings would look when drawn on somebody. With researching Santiago Sierra also, it was definitely something I wanted to attempt. Luckily, my friend and fellow student Sophie volunteered to have Medusa drawn on her back. It was quite hard to do as I had no carbon copy paper or rubbing alcohol to transfer a design the way a tattoo artist would, and the projector could only make the image a certain size before going blurry. So the end result wasn’t fantastic, but I think it was a good start. It’s interesting to see how the drawing wraps around the body. I will certainly be trying this with other designs. Other idea I had was to buy some fake skin, ink and needles and see how the design would look as an actual tattoo.
